About Ladakh

Ladakh has many attractions in the form of Mountains, Valleys and buddhists Monasteries namely- Hemis, Thiksay, Alchi, Lamayuru monasteries, etc. We have other tourist attractions like- Pangong Lake, Tsomo Riri and Tsokar lakes, Nubra Valley and much more.

Spectacularly jagged, arid mountains enfold this magical, Buddhist ex-kingdom. Picture-perfect gompas (Tibetan Buddhist monasteries) dramatically crown rocky outcrops amid whitewashed stupas and meditational mani walls topped with countless mantra-inscribed pebbles. Colourful fluttering prayer flags spread their spiritual messages metaphorically with the mountain breeze. Prayer wheels spun clockwise release more merit-making mantras. Gompa interiors are colourfully awash with murals and statuary of numerous bodhisattvas

Nubra valley is the northern most region of Ladakh and India. Nubra, lies beyond the Khardong La Pass. Siachen Glaciers, Turtuk village, Diskit Monastry, Shayok river, Hundar sand dunes, double humped Bactrian camels, are all here. Nubra Valley is a prime attraction among the tourists coming to Ladakh. To get to Nubra valley there are three motorable land routes-via, 1- Wari La pass, 2- Chang La Pass and Shayok valley and 3- Khardong La pass.

But Khardong La pass (arguably, the world’s highest motorable road) is the preferred mode of passage among the tourists as well as locals. Driving through the Khardong La pass is an adventure in itself.

Point of Interest in Nubra

A beautiful scenic village in the Nubra valley and famous for its hot springs, the Panamik is the last destination for tourists travelling across Ladakh. .

Placed in the Sumlur village of the Nubra valley region, Samstanling Monastery was founded 140 years back in 1841 by Lama Tsultim Nima. The Monastery is 124 km from Leh and serves to more than 50 monks with the daily needs.

A completely contrasting feature of white sands in the midst of snowcapped mountain ranges, the Hunder Sand Dunes is a unique bed of nature that is located between Hunder and Diskit villages in the Nubra Valley..

Diskit Monastery also known as Deskit Gompa or Diskit Gompa is the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery (gompa) in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, northern India..
